The say the best things in life are not things! Fair enough but they come damn close!
My life and much of who I am are based off of what I have and what I own, myself I indulge in "THINGS" on a daily basis I collect sneakers, store art in my basement and spend stupid amounts of money on toys. But for me the love of product always comes first I am not easily impressed by the status quo. But what I am trying to say is I may seem like I care about worldly things and am very materialistic by it is quite the opposite the products I wear and own will rarely be bought for the tag or the price or even to boast and be flashy its not about impressing the crowd. The products or pieces I enjoy most have a heritage a background and are baiscs of quality. appreciating the work and love that has gone into the product. more or less it is a piece of art to me, no matter if it’s a pair of shoes or vinyl toys or even a trunk. Morally for me it is understand what you Cherish not based on its value; but your affection for it.
So basically you are increasingly opting for self-gratification and everything else is subject to open derision. Do you not think that there is much more to life than "THINGS".
ReplyDeleteNo matter what kind of spin you put on it, be it art, quality or history. "THINGS" are still materials. A possesion that you care about and are impressed by. And materials do lead to materialism. No matter how hard you try to convince yourself that it is not.
We are all materialistic but that should not determine or be the base of who you are and what defines you. Rather it should be a compliment of your personality and your faith.
