Dj’ng and i first meet in high school gr 11 when he had just purchased his two turntables. He resides in Calgary and lives for the beats,lyrics and melodies. In between working a full time job and chilling with friends and loved ones he still finds time to spin and runs sets until the early dawn of the morning. Trying to perfect the art of Dj’ing. Remember folks it all started with two turntables.
Q: Can you introduce yourself to our readers
DN: Yeah Yo. Im 18, I Dj, Rep Calgary, And a huge fan!!
Q: what dj name do you go by and can you shed some light behind the concept of your dj name?
DN: Dj Ng. It's special cause, i just took my last name and put it in front of the dj, I thought oh shit! If i saw that all together it sounds like djing!
Q: it seems like dj;ing is a dying culture what are your thoughts on that?
DN: It’s not dying, it’s just on life support. Like I know there are upcoming dj's like me who are trying to perfect the skill and keep that shit alive. Im just glad is still around! Unlike acid wash jeans guy (laughs).
Q: what you think about the current state of hip-hop?
DN: I mean its pretty stable in my opinion. Like Kid Cudi, Asher, and all those new guys have been trying to maintain it. But it can’t all be positive all the time. I believe for every good, there is a bad.
Q: Do you sometimes feel like the music you spin is not music that appeals to the masses. And almost feels like your forced to play songs you don’t fully like to rock with?
DN: Of course man. Like i was playing a party couple blocks up, and all they wanted to hear was top 40 shit. Like cool, There is nothing wrong with that. Music is music. But my comfort zone is the older hip hop. Wu tang was the illest!
Q: So your really into this because of the art not just to get some nice groupies lol ?
DN: I mean groupies are nice. But Music was/is my first love man!
Q: Paris or Japan, Nike dunks or Vans authentics, New era or starter, phantom or lambo, Nas or Jay?
DN: Fuck, these are some hard-ass questions (laughs). Japan, cause I’m Asian haha. Vans, Hype. New Era. Cause they have more shit, but starter is ill too but in 92! Phantoms yo! And the last one hmm, I really like both. But I think Nas is better.
